About us

The Mutation Irish arts and culture blog first appeared online in early 2009 as a mutant space project - a side project that was both initiated, developed and realised by the members of our arts co-operative [for more information on mutant space arts resource go to our home site].

The main focus of the blog is to give our members a voice, a platform in which they can publish their opinions on subjects that interest, amuse and irritate them. After only a year of being online our small blog has grown exponentially building up a loyal readership all over the world with articles on a wide range of topics from the arts to cultural criticism, food recipes to travel articles and culture essays to Irish band reviews.

As a project we are continually building, researching, tweaking, re-shaping, developing. Always looking for better ways to present work, always seeking new writers and new avenues to explore. This process has led us down some interesting paths. So, if you want to get involved, help out, become a feature columnist, submit an essay, video, sound piece or if you have an idea for something completely different to put into this blog go to www.mutantspace.ie and join up – it’s free

As well as running this project we also manage a resource bank, scrap store, forum, host our own projects, help members promote their own events, produce our own events and encourage and develop new working relationships with our members.

On a final note. This website has been built with open source software. Open source software has been a key component in the development of the internet and has changed the way we work forever. This open source culture, to which we are indebted, is proof that by working together, through mutual co-operation, we can change the world.
