Okay. Right. The newsletter. Been going on about this for so long and am only now getting it together. Up until now I only sent out newsletters to mutant space members. I’ve decided to change that. I think I’m better off giving members the choice of whether they want to read the newsletter or not as opposed to getting a not wanted email in their inbox. So from now on newsletters are going to be put into this blog and everyone is welcome to read or not to read. Whether they’re members or just readers of this blog

So what’s new:
Well I’m constantly trying to improve mutant space and this blog. Make it more accessible and of real value to everyone that uses it. It’s a hard to do as there is no money, little time and I’m not particularly computer literate. Today was a case in point. I managed to destroy the mutation feed into the news section of mutantspace.ie. After hours of frantic emailing the programmers of the site, I deactivated a simple plugin, in the mutation, and all went back to normal. It’s a very frustrating position to be in – working online blindfolded.
So, to the news; next week I’m going to do an official callout for the next MUTANT SHORT Film Series as well as for other events to be held in June. I want to do another MUTANT CABARET and certainly would like to see us all move the series on into a small festival. This is the aim. The dream. Our own festival.

I’ve been asked to add these callouts from two of our members;

Roundhouse Productions is now accepting C.V’s for its 2010 productions. Workshops/rehearsed readings and performances will take place over the year. Roundhouse would like to hear from both male and female adult actors. All ages are sought. Roundhouse is particularly interested in hearing from Polish actors or Polish residents in Ireland who would like to get involved in theatre. Roundhouse is accepting C.V from designers and technicians, crew members and arts administrators. Roundhouse is also accepting CV’s for 2010 internships in its summer/autumn and winter productions. Please send CV’s to: roundhousetc@gmail.com Also if you can please send this email onto anyone who may be interested

ZAUM is a fortnightly event held on a Monday night in the Quad on Tuckey Street. It is aimed at allowing performers and artists a forum to get their work out to the public. We have had singer songwriters, comedians, noise artists, an Irish trad band and shown films.
We’re trying to offer diverse acts an interested audience to play to and so far the reception has surpassed expectations.
Many participants have priority projects but at ZAUM they perform their side projects or one off improvisations. We’re looking for people to take things they enjoy doing and show it to a new audience.
ZAUM is neither a showcase nor an open mic session. It is a mixture of both.
It does facilitate acts to play there first shows to an audience but without the pressure of a ’showcase’ gig.
Some of the performers choose to experiment rather than show off anything finished and clean.
We try to organise three acts in advance to keep everything relaxed and to guarantee diversity and quality for the audience.
January saw the first ZAUMzine of the year which featured art and writings from Corkonians. This is a way of showing off the talents of people who would not normally have a platform to perform or show artworks. If you’ve got an idea for the night, know someone who would be into doing something, contact the organisers at zaumday@gmail.com or www.myspace.com/zaumcork.
The nature of the event will evolve and change according to the participants, and organisers are open to nearly all suggestions. The acts starts around half nine and finish up before half eleven. Upcoming dates - 8th Feb, 22nd Feb, 8th March, 22nd March and so on every second week.

Please remember - it’s important and people are tending to forget - if you want your events to be included in our listings you need to first post them into our FORUM on mutantspace.ie. I can then take them from there and post them elsewhere. Please don’t email your events listings to me.

I have started pushing the site and need your help to promote it further so if any of you have blogs, websites, etc could you please add in a link to mutantspace.ie and themutation.com on them. I’d really appreciate it. There is no money and so marketing and advertising is really difficult. In fact if anyone can help with promotion, PR, etc please let me know as I’m not good at it and badlt need a hand, advice, help. Just email me at admin@mutantspace.ie

I’m looking for someone to write a sports column. Sports are a vital part of our culture and cultures throughout the world and we’re sorely missing that cultural aspect in this blog. So if anyone is interested in writing on sport please let me know

The deadline for the March issue of the mutation is Friday 26th February. We’ve more writers than ever which is fantastic. Keep it all coming in

I’ve started submitting some of the articles to article distribution sites so hopefully something will come of it for those of you who have written for the blog. I’m currently sending out current articles and will then start on the archives

That’s about it at the moment if anything else comes up I’ll add it in. If you have info to include in this newsletter post it into the FORUM
